    Chest problem - no feeling

    Hello all!I have big problem!
Never mind how I perform bench presses (bodybuilding style) - Chest exercise,I can't get any feeling in 90 percent of times!
Only in 2-3 % of times i feel my chest to work!
I tried all to bring feeling in my chest when perform Bench Presses but without result!
My shoulder are little rounded forward and one sport doctor told me about weakness in inner upper back - scapula/traps/rotation cuff area!
What happen with me?Why when I perform Bench Presses I only move weight from point A to point B without any feeling in Chest,Shoulder,Triceps...
    My target is Chest!
Can someone help me with idea?May be injury or?
THank you and sorry for bad English!

Re: Chest problem - no feeling

Could you explain what exactly it is that you are doing on the bench press?
    What machine are you using,
    what weight are you using
how many sets and reps are you completing
What form are you using (ie. Hand spacing, grip, foot position - picture is helpful).
Also, how long have you been training, and mention which exercises you do specifically. How many days a week do you train?

You mentioned you have rounding of the shoulders, do you do any Back exercises?

When you mention 'feel', are you speaking of DOMS - Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness which is the discomfort that comes on after about 24-48 hrs within the muscle group, or do you not feel anything as you do the movement?

If you can provide the above information that will definitely help to make an assessment of your problem.
    Cheers

Re: Chest problem - no feeling

    Standart Bench Press -
    Legs on the Floor!
    Elbows - I tried both - 45 degree;90 degree
Middle grip - shoulder width (not very close, not very wide)
From Standart Free Weight Bench Press to Vertical Machine Bench Press - Incline,Flat,Pec-Dec,CrossOver and some other machines!
I always on Bench Press stop before complete lock-out,and not all the way down!
Depend on week from 3 to 5 workouts!
1 Chest Workout on 5 to 7 days!
I train(ed) from 3 years and 1,5 years I benched with totally flat back!

Yes i do back exercises, but sport doctor told me 2 months ago - my Inner Upper Back - Romboid/Traps are is weak and this affect my shoulders posture and body asswell!

do you not feel anything as you do the movement - YES AS BODYBUILDER my private target is to feel stretch and contraction in the muscle when performing exercises!

    I have 3 theories:
    1)Injury in Shoulder/Scapula/Rotation Cuff area
2)Very weak Inner Upper Back - weak Rotation Cuff and very rounded front delts
3)Sometimes when I maintain arc in my back it stable my Core and on both Ticeps PushDown and Incline Smith-MAchine Bench Press - I get very good contaction and strecht (the most important part Stretch) but Only Some Times!
I remember as well - I had sometimes when I felt my shoulder blades/lats like they want to flare on way up,but I stop short of lock out and don't allow to them to flare (Incline Smith Machine Bench Press)

    Any questions/ideas?
I tried all standard things but seems like I still had problem!Seems like sometimg very strange or injury

    Sorry for bad English!

Re: Chest problem - no feeling

Sounds pretty normal for a flat bench. I used to do body building myself and flat bench doesn't lend to much feeling, except perhaps with pyramid type sets with a good spotter. Dumbbell flys or cable cross-overs are much more likely to cause chest muscle pain but why do you want pain? I am not sure pain is directly related to size or muscle gain?!

Sounds like you are too focused on the pecs and need more back work to balance you out, therefore being a better body builder. Close grip seated rows, bent over rows, chins deadlifts, reverse flys, dips etc will all assist to balance you out and believe it or not your chest is still working during all upper body exercise. Train smart and you can train less. Look at franco columbo. He lived for dips and chins to get his awesome physique!

Re: Chest problem - no feeling

I am into weightlifting as well,

here is a vid: The fit show interface ver 2

I would have to say that in the initial 2 exercises, there is a good emphasis on form. You can compare this to what you do yourself, and see if that helps.

    Cheers

Re: Chest problem - no feeling

The problem for me is - Why Bench Press works for me one time, and 100 times not!I 'm tring to define - what is the difference between good and bad sets!
The problem is not only when I perform bench press, but Flyes,Cable-Crossover,Dips as well - the situation with them is the same!
I see the same problem with all pushing movements - Chest;Triceps;Shoulder - Presses!
    No problem with Back,Biceps,Legs...
So the problem is only with pushing movements - but where I really don't know??!?
IS s possible weaker inner back to prevent my chest from feeling and grow?

By the Way Franco Columbo is very very good bodybuilder with perfect body - respect for him!
For Pain - I'm talking about feeling on way down and on way up - every bodybuilder goes by feeling!
I don't want real "pain" or to hurt myself, but only to feel my chest to do the work!

    Sorry for horrible english!

Re: Chest problem - no feeling

    Taping
Not all muscle groups feel the 'burn' when working out. Also not all muscle groups feel the 'burn' all of the time. I would suggest it relates to blood flow at the time, how fatigue the body already is and where the person is in their training cycle.

Many top body builders say that they have to change their routine and therefore exercises regularly, even every 6 weeks to stimulate the pecs in another way so they can feel the burn. Also a compulsory week off every 8-9 weeks will assist you to fully recover and will make for a better training session on your return.

As for the video, it's not bad although one would not do all these exercises in the one training session. They are options. e.g. flat bench and front shoulder press would hit the upper fibres of the pec and blast them totally. So you would not do incline bench with front should press in the same 48hr period. Look at you choice of exercises as movement is not an isolated situation. Many muscles work together to create movement and provided you are using them in the correct synergy then this is the way to train smartly and get even development. Sergio Nubret springs to mind as a good example
